They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but sometimes, a single word will bring back a thousand memories

Through their eyes, is an exhibition of photographs and poetry that documents the reality of dementia as seen through the eyes of those who have it, and those who care for them. A diagnosis of Alzheimer's can be life-changing. Not only for the person who has the disease but also for their family and friends. In India, more than 4 million people have dementia. Globally, this figure is over 55 million.

When you start to think about how many people are affected by the disease, whether as a patient or a caregiver, we are looking at a factor of 5-10. So conservatively, 275 million people are dealing with this illness every day.

In this exhibition, first held at the Indian International Centre in New Delhi, and subsequently in Oslo, Norway, photographer Andy Malhan and poet Astri Ghosh, both of whom are children of Alzheimer's patients, focus on the daily reality of living with this disease.
